The Swamp: fast food restaurants dominate South Sandusky Street
When students are hungry and campus dining rooms are closed, they don't have to travel far to eat. The problem, however, is the quality of that eating.

The closest grocery store is more than two miles from OWU's campus, which is surrounded by a quagmire of restaurants selling fast, fried, and loaded-with-fat food.

At one time, a Kroger store was within walking distance, but I closed awhile back. Now students are left with everything from Domino's to McDonald's and that simply is not healthy.

-Olga Khazan, The Atlantic
"The food swamp culture is one that consists of over $4.2 billion worth of fast food advertisement in a single year and twice as many fast food restaurants in impoverished areas than in more affluent communities."
-Jerome Nathaniel, Mic
